Work Conditioning Program
What is a Work Conditioning Program?
It is a series of treatments that include physical conditioning along with simulated and real job work tasks to help the injured worker regain optimal function and return to work. The program’s goals include improvements in cardiopulmonary, neuromuscular, musculoskeletal functions, education, and symptom relief. When applicable, the program also addresses reasonable accommodations and adaptations in the workplace for the worker.
What kind of injured workers can be treated?
Those who have a specific job to return to with a specific employer, but do not currently have the physical capacities to safely return to the job, and/or for whom the employer does not have appropriate job accommodations.
Those with no specific job to return to with a specific employer, but for whom a target job or job group goal has been identified for which they do not currently have all of the physical tolerances.
Those who do not require inter-disciplinary services, because the impediments to return to work are primarily physical.
What does the program consist of?
At Doeberling-Muccio, the goal of a Work Conditioning program is to achieve an attendance of five days per week involving four hours of conditioning activities. Prior to starting a program, clients are evaluated for an appropriate progression of activities.
